All Night Appetite w/ Cameron (SEN 1116)

A Tuesday morning (Monday afternoon US) appearance on the All NIght Appetite as Cameron Luke and I discuss the Gold Medal game in Men’s Ice Hockey at the 2010 Olympics. A disappointment for us here in the States as Canada defeated the US team in overtime. Overall it was a great Olympics for the USA as they captured the most totals medals for only the second time ever (1932). In the NBA, Shaq has thumb surgery, yet the Cavs still roll along. More injuries as I update the status of Dwayne Wade, Paul Pierce and Chris Bosh. A lot of interest on the SMS in Michael Jordan becoming the owner of the Charlotte Bobcats. The NFL free agency period starts later this week as teams make some major roster cuts. What would an NFL offseason be without a question about Brett Favre?

All Night Appetite w/ Darren (SEN 1116)

Back in NYC as football fans are looking forward to next weeks Super Bowl with the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints playing in Miami, Florida. A little appetizer with the Pro Bowl being played tonight in Miami, but with many of the stars absent including 7 each from the Colts and Saints rosters. Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner announces his retirement this week ending a what I think is a hall of fame career and a incredible cinderella story. In the Super Bowl the Colts are now a 5.5 point favorites after the line opened at 3.5. I along with much of the public like the Colts, but I reserve the right to change my opinion this week. In the NBA some close games last night and some big matchups today. The highlight being the Boston Celtics hosting the defending champion and their primary rival the Los Angeles Lakers. NBA commissioner David Stern has ruled both Washington Wizards Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton suspended for the remainder of the season for the gun incident in the locker room. The NHL also has a marquee matchup with the Pittsburgh Penguins taking on the Detroit Red Wings in a rematch of the last two NHL Stanley Cup Finals.

All Night Appetite w/ Darren (SEN 1116)

Live from Park City, Utah and the Sundance Film Festival. It is the one year anniversary of this spot as the first show was from here at Sundance a year ago. It is also Championship Sunday again as the Indianapolis Colts are hosting the New York Jets. I think Peyton Manning will control the game and will be able to score on the excellent Jets defense. I think the Colts defense will be very tough and will slow down the Jets running game. I think the Colts will be able to cover the 8.5 point spread. In the NFC the New Orleans Saints are 3.5 point home-favorites over Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. I am leaning toward the Vikings as I think they have a slightly better defense and the magic of Brett Favre. At this stage I think the Colts are the favorite for the Super Bowl. In the NBA the Cleveland Cavaliers are on fire as Lebron James is proving to be the best player in the NBA. There are 3 NBA games on the slate with Kobe Bryant looking to put on another incredible show on Championship Sunday.

All Night Appetite w/ Darren (SEN 1116)

Live from Las Vegas, Nevada. A recap of Saturday’s action as the New Orleans Saints and Reggie Bush put on an offensive exhibition eliminating the Arizona Cardinals from the playoffs. It was most likely Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner’s final NFL game. In the AFC the Indianapolis Colts defeat the Baltimore Ravens. In today’s action the Minnesota Vikings host the Dallas Cowboys and the San Diego Chargers take on the New York Jets. I like both of the home teams the Vikings and the Chargers today. A recap of the coaching changes in both pro and college football this week. The NBA is in action today with a few matchups highlighted.

All Night Appetite w/ Darren (SEN 1116)

A recap of the 2 NFL games played Saturday. The New York Jets defeated the Cincinnati Bengals and the Dallas Cowboys eliminated the Philadelphia Eagles. In action today the Baltimore Ravens have jumped on top of the New England Patriots and later this afternoon the Arizona Cardinals host the Green Bay Packers. I would take the Cardinals in this one. In college football Alabama defeated Texas for the National Championship. Washington Wizards Gilbert Arenas suspended indefinitely for brandishing fire arms in the locker room. A discussion of other NBA games in action today and about the Detroit Pistons struggles. Also an update on today’s NHL slate. In boxing the Floyd Mayweather – Manny Pacquiao fight is officially off.

All Night Appetite (SEN 1116)

NBA plays 5 games on Christmas day, a discussion on whether games should be played on the holiday. In the NFL week 16 games are underway with many having playoff implications. In the AFC, the Colts and Chargers spots are locked in, but the wild cards are very wild. In the NFC the New York Giants try to put pressure on the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers for the final playoff spots as they play their final game in Giants Stadium. Will the Colts take the foot off the pedal or play their starters and go for a perfect season? The Colts are only favored by 3 points suggesting they will rest starters. Controversy brewing with the Vikings in Minnesota with a perceived power struggle between quarterback Brett Favre and head coach Brad Childress. In the NBA is it the end of the road for Tracy McGrady with the Houston Rockets? Ron Artest suffers a peculiar injury at home after tripping over a box and falling down a flight of stairs. His status for next week is up in the air. On Christmas day the Boston Celtics won impressively in Orlando and LeBron, Shaq and the Cleveland Cavaliers beat Kobe and the Lakers convincingly in LA. Finally, boxing fans pencil in the much anticipated super fight on March 13th. 2010. Floyd “Money” Mayweather is slated to take on Manny Pacquiao, most likely in Las Vegas. Controversy is already brewing as Mayweather’s camp is requesting Olympic-style drug testing prior to the bout, putting the fight in jeopardy.
