Picks for Nov. 1st

Tough day yesterday. Again tons of sports action today. There are scheduled games in the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL and NASCAR chase race at Talladega.

Baltimore Ravens (H) vs Denver Broncos (Ravens by 4.5, opened 3.5)
I don’t want to do this again as I am a believer in the Broncos and head coach Josh McDaniels, but too many conditions line up on the Ravens -4.5. The public is on the Broncos, yet the line has moved out. An undefeated team is a 4.5 point underdog? They are both coming off byes, so that factor is a wash, though I do prefer the home team.
Tennessee Titans (H) vs Jacksonville Jaguars (Titans by 3, opened 3)
I am taking the winless Titans -3. Vince Young will be starting as they have had an extra week to prepare a gameplan for him (as have the Jags, but I prefer the Titans coaching).
Green Bay Packers (H) vs Minnesota Vikings (Packers by 3.5, opened 3.5)
In the game of the year I am taking the Green Bay Packers -3.5. This is a tough one as the Vikings defense has looked so good and the Packers offensive line hasn’t been so strong. The 3.5 point line has the bookmakers begging you to take the Vikings.

World Series Game 4
It was tough loss last night for the Phillies. Cole Hamels started out looking strong, but he folded under the first bit of pressure. Tonight will be a tough one for Phillies as they will be facing Yankees ace CC Sabathia and will have their 4th starter Joe Blanton on the mound. Sabathia will be on 3 days rest. I can see the Phillies getting some runs on him tonight, but I still think the Yankees will prevail (but not going to lay -170). I will go with the Over 8.5 runs tonight.

Miami Heat (H) vs Chicago Bulls (Totol 193, opened 196.5)
I am going with the move and taking the Under 193.

Washington Capitals (H) vs Columbus Blue Jackets (Blue Jackets +140, opened +155)
I am going back with the Blue Jackets +140. They lost a tough one in a shoot out to the Penguins, but think they are good value here against another top team in the East.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Amp Energy 500 at Talladega, Alabama
Finally a wide open race whose favorites are 7-1 (Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.). This is a great race it is a shame it will be overshadowed by all of the other sports action in the US. Take a shot on Kurt Busch at 12-1 or better. Also if you can get the Field at 7-1 or better (a field bet that includes 25 drivers or more).

Ravens -4.5 (3 out of 5)
Titans -3 (3 out of 5)
Packers -3.5 (3 out of 5)
WS Game 4 Over 8.5 (2 out of 5)
Under Heat/Bulls 193 (2 out of 5)
Blue Jackets +140 (2 out of 5)
Kurt Busch 12-1 (.5 out of 5)
NASCAR Field 7-1 (.5 out of 5)
