NFL Playoffs – Divisional Round
Minnesota Vikings (H) vs Dallas Cowboys (Vikings by 2.5, total 45.5, opened 3 and 48)
I am going to stick with my same methodology from yesterday and take the home (rested) team and the under. I like the Vikings -2.5 as I think the extra week of rest for Favre and the defense will be key. I think they matchup well against the Cowboys and expect the loud crowd in the Metrodome do be a big factor for the Vikings. I jumped off the Cowboy bandwagon last week, while much of the public has jumped on. As for the total I am going with the line move and taking the Under 45.5. I think both defenses will play well and even with big play possibilties on the turf I still see a low scoring game.
San Diego Chargers (H) vs New York Jets (Chargers by 7, Total 42.5, opened 9.5 and 42.5)
I am again going with the Chargers -8 and Under 42.5 as I think the rested Chargers defense will shut down quarterback Mark Sanchez and the now 2-headed New York Jets running attack. I was very wrong last week as Sanchez outplayed Carson Palmer, but I don’t see it today as Philip Rivers is primed for his Super Bowl run. The Chargers defense is tough and they will dare Sanchez to beat them. The Jets defense is great, but San Diego has too many weapons. Look for Malcom Floyd and Antonio Gates to be big players in the offense with Darrelle Revis covering Chargers top receiver Vincent Jackson.
Vikings -2.5 (3 out of 5)
Under 45.5 (3 out of 5)
Chargers -8 (3 out of 5)
Under Chargers/Jets 42.5 (2 out of 5)
