About Chief

David Alcaro is not your average sports radio personality.  Rather than follow one team or even one particular sport, David is known for his broad knowledge and interest in ALL sports.  His love of sports expands far beyond his hometown teams and has led him around the country to get a live view of the action.  David’s vast understanding of sports has been cultivated over years of being on the field, in the stands, and firmly planted next to his radio.  Perhaps it was his well-rounded sports prowess that contributed to his nickname, The Chief.

Born in Bristol, Tennessee to an Italian-American family, raised in Washingtonville, New York, and currently living in the greatest city on the planet, the Chief’s interest in sports can be attributed to a variety of influences.  He is especially fond of New York sports teams.  His allegiances lay with the Mets, the Giants, and the Rangers.  Being born within earshot of Nascar’s most exciting track, the Chief can’t deny his penchant for motorsports. A Volunteer from birth, the Chief is often seen in orange in support of the University of Tennessee’s football team.  The young Chief’s family relocated to the land of frozen ponds (upstate New York), where he cultivated his love for ice hockey.  When the winter Olympics come around, you can count on the Chief to follow the USA Men’s Hockey teams’ every move.  He cites this team as one of his all-time favorites to watch.  Having spent his college years attending the University of Pennsylvania, he is also a loyal fan of Penn’s athletics – the basketball team specifically.  An American sports fan through and through, the Chief still holds onto his Italian heritage as a rabid supporter of the (World Champion) Italian National Soccer Team.

In addition to baseball, football, hockey, basketball, auto racing, and soccer, the Chief also follows, golf, boxing, and tennis. Although he enjoys attending events for all of these sports, the Chief says nothing compares to being at the races.  The Chief has attended the past 11 Kentucky Derbies, the past 6 Breeders Cups, and over a decade-worth of Belmont Stakes.  He has even dabbled in racehorse ownership, blaming the beautiful animals and plethora of numbers for his weakness.

Numbers have been a big part of the Chief’s life as he has had a successful career as a commodities trader.  In fact, over the years he has drawn on his extensive analytical skill set to interpret statistics and accurately predict outcomes.  He is particularly adept when it comes to understanding betting odds and point spreads.

In addition to his work as a trader and his blossoming career in sports talk radio, the Chief is also an award-winning film producer, most recently executive producing Trouble the Water.  The Chief is also active in several charitable foundations.  He is on the board of directors of Rock and Wrap it Up, an anti- poverty organization which collects unsold food from concession stands after sporting events.  He is also very active in supporting the WEL Foundation, the NYMEX Charitable Foundation, the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation and the Dr. Theodore Atlas Foundation.
