The Australian Open is in full swing, and today I discuss the lack of American interest in Professional Tennis.  In golf, John Daly has started very well at the Farmers Insurance Open in California, and Tiger Woods may be back at the top of his game.  NFL fans have big things to look forward to with the Pro Bowl this weekend – a very tricky game to judge!  The Superbowl is the same as it seems both teams have a great chance to take this one.  Also this weekend, NHL history will take place at the All Star Game where Eric Staal and Nick Lidstrom will be drafting teams, like pond or fantasy hockey, from the pre-selected All Stars. And in the NBA, the New York Knicks will get a rematch with the Miami Heat.  Listen to today’s show to find out why I think the Knicks may take this one!

Happy New Year!  Today, I’m back from my holiday break in Las Vegas where I rang in the new year with Coldplay, Jay-Z and crew, and I’m ready to talk all things sports!  In the NFL, big news as the Cleveland Browns have sacked Eric Mangini, former head coach.  Other interesting NFL news is that the Seattle Seahawks, NFC west division champions, will make it to the playoffs with a less than 500 season.  Some may feel this is unfair, but to me, those are just the rules of the game. The Seahawks will be faced up against the New Orleans Saints who are favored to win, but given Seattle’s success at home and their home field advantage, I would not be surprised if they were able to take it.  Also in NFL, Brett Favre’s character marked again with more text message troubles.  This time from former New York Jets masseuses who claim he behaved inappropriately once again.  In the NBA, the Los Angeles Lakers are not looking so good, while the Miami Heat are charging along winning 18 of their last 19 games.  Both Lebron James and Dwayne Wade are playing strong and leading their team through an incredible season.  And in the NHL, the Pittsburgh Penguins took on the Washington Capitals on New Year’s Day in an annual outdoor game.  The game was postponed from it’s afternoon time slot at 1pm to 8pm due to weather, but the dark proved to be a spectacular setting as it was the highest rated hockey game in 36 years!  All this and more!

Today, I discuss the big news of Roy Halladay of the Philadelphia Phillies pitching a no hitter against the Cincinnati Reds in his first postseason game.  MLB playoffs continue to rage on as the Yankee’s sweep the Twins, the Giants look to take the Braves, and the Tampa Bay Rays and the Texas Rangers fight it out in game 5 of their series.  Also, Brett Favre making headlines in a sexting scandal with a former New York Jets employee.  As the Vikings and the Jets head into their game, how will the media pressure affect the game?  Also in NFL, frustration abound in San Francisco as Mike Singletary and Alex Smith make problems for the losing 49ers.  Plus, the NHL season has begun, and I make a big prediction for the Stanley Cup.  And, in college football, Alabama loses to South Carolina making Ohio State the number 1 team in college football.  All this and so much more!
